Thanks for checking out Old Vermilion Trail Hunting Preserve and Sporting Clays. We offer a wide range of activities for beginning and experienced shooters.
Open Shooting & Leagues
In the summer we are open for sporting clays and run a summer-long sporting clays league. Trap and Skeet are available by reservation only. Closed for the winter after October 25, 2026
Summer Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from Noon – Dusk, starting May 26th thru September 17th.
October Hours: Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm starting September 26th thru October 25th.
Winter Hours: Closed for the winter season.
Accessibility
Old Vermilion Trail is accessible to foot and golf cart traffic only. Golf carts are available for rent at the clubhouse.
Personal 4 wheelers and side-by-side’s are not allowed on the courses.
Hunters Course
The Hunters Course is a separate course from the League Course, so you will be able to shoot at your own pace. You will see lots of different presentations at the 9 stations that you can shoot as singles, report pairs, and maybe some true pairs. This is a great course to get yourself warmed up for the hunting season. If you know someone that is a beginner/novice or is interested in learning to shoot for hunting or sporting clays, the OVT Hunters Course would be a very good place to bring them to.
Pheasant Hunting
Our pheasant hunts start on September 20th. Guides and dogs are also available on request. Get together a couple of friends and reserve a hunt today.
